In this transparent narrative and teaching, David Alsobrook describes his problems with self. He describes this "self" as "the false me" centered in his head for a half century and the cause of most of his problems. Exploring the Scriptures the author establishes the truth that Jesus and Paul taught extensively on the false self and its remedy. The author experienced the remedy himself resulting in freedom from anxiety, fear, worry, and care. This book teaches how to identify the false "me" and surrender it to God. The false "me" is then dissolved leaving only the true "me" inside the transformed individual.
Transformation is the blessed result of experience the death of the false "me," or the false self. The author shows the reader his or her need for such transformation and how it can be experienced in personal life by taking up one's uniquely designed individual cross.
"By taking up your uniquely designed cross you bring your soul into alignment with God's purpose for your life and experience the grace of soul transformation," he says.
Many true Christians live in bondage to unceasing and intense mental activity almost all their lives. Contrary to the teaching of Christ, they worry about the future and agonize over the past. Their souls are heavy with burdens imposed upon them by their carnal minds. This is the reason many Christians live with anxiety, guilt, and stress.
The author teaches that this mode of living is far beneath the "abundant life" Jesus promised His followers. Jesus' great teaching The Sermon on the Mount was actually a treatise on the way to live a full and happy life, one free from worry and care. The fact it is so rarely followed or even understood does not minimize its power for anyone who takes the teachings of Jesus seriously.
Mr. Alsobrook's unique writing style and almost unknown insights into Scripture make for interesting and illuminating reading. By following the teaching he presents in this book the author experienced the profound grace of soul transformation and shows clearly from the Scriptures how this grace is available for all today through the crucifixion of Christ.
